April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month. Jim Kelly, the hall of fame Buffalo Bills quarterback, is one of the victims of this deadly disease. He begins his fight against oral cancer today in New York City.
“My big battle starts Monday, when I start radiation and chemotherapy…and I hope when it’s all over they get everything, but right now we’re praying for a miracle.”
Kelly is one of approximately 43,250 people who will be diagnosed with oral and pharyngeal cancer in the US. Each year oral cancer kills more people than skin cancer, lymphatic cancer and cervical cancer.
